my inspiration...

Pops of color… in the most unexpected places sometimes! I love neutrals as much as the next girl.. I mean black is a girl's best friend right?! Sometimes though, you just need a little pop of color to brighten your life!

Pink countertop? Fantastic! Add on mint cupboards?! Brilliant! Ok, so not everyone is going to love this, but it's just so different that I will classify it as brilliant. Would I have the guts to do this in my own home? Not likely… and i'll blame Steve for that… I don't think he would like pink countertops a whole lot.. I guess i can't blame him!

The ceiling. I freakin love when people just paint the ceiling… It's almost as good as painting a giant sun and bright blue sky on your ceiling. Waking up to a bright ceiling would just make my day… everyday!

Painting floors… oh I so wish I could do this. I know a lot of people would be scared to paint their floors, but it's only paint right?! Be brave, be bold… Use paint in the most unexpected places. How can you not want to after seeing these gorgeous rooms?!

little bitty masculine...

Happy Monday! Today I have designed a nursery… definitely designed for a little boy, and definitely made to feel a little bit more…grown up?! I feel like a lot of these pieces could definitely grow with a little one… especially the locker cabinet. How fantastic is this?! Hell I would love this in my room now!

a little look a like...

This week has been so busy for us around here, but the good news is… the sun is shining!!!! For two days straight now! Did I just jinx it?! Anyway, for today's little look a like, I have a dining room that I discovered here.

I love this dining room for it's rustic feel, it's simplicity and especially for it's rug! I have no idea where one might find a rug like this but I want it! And how is plywood looking so perfect in this room right now? I have been seeing the simplicity of plywood floors a lot lately and I quite like it! It's different and most of all it's inexpensive! Anyway, enjoy this eye candy, happy friday, and enjoy the sun!!

what's not to love?!

Sometimes I honestly forget all about the shops that I "favorite" on Etsy. It's like a new little gift everytime I go back and look at the shops that I have loved along the way. "The Gretest" is one such shop. It's full of bright and colorful rugs, pillows, art work and even shower curtains! I love the bold colors and bright patterns. Go check it out for yourself! I know you'll love it too!

random dining room….

This dining room… I have no words. I literally just started to pick out items that I really liked and put them all together and somehow… it works! I believe this is what they call eclectic.

I think I have used this rug in a different design once before… but it's so lovely. It just has this old world feel to it but sort of modern at the same time, and I love that it looks washed out. That chair from Etsy, I have wanted to use in a design for awhile now. I love it's shape. It would look gorgeous in a living room too! Oh or in the corner of a bedroom… oh the possibilities! I still sam so surprised sometimes at the things you can find on Etsy! LOVE IT!

my inspiration...

Three things I have always wanted to do/try design wise...

1. Hang a hammock inside.

Is this not the epitome of relaxation?! In this fair land that I live in… we are only able to use a hammock outside about 3 months of the year. If I could put one in my future home, I would never move.

2. Paint a significant part of a room a very bright color.

It's only paint right?! It's the easiest design feature you can change! I am normally very minimal with paint, I have a thing for white walls, but just once, I would love to paint some major feature a super bright color. How gorgeous is this purple?!

3. Wallpaper a ceiling.

Frankly I would like to wallpaper SOMETHING… ANYTHING in my next house, but how cool is this wall papered ceiling! Such a brilliant idea. It draws your eye up and adds such a nifty visual interest to the room!(That's right, I said nifty!) Brilliant!! (I wish I had thought of it first!)

i keep going back...

This picture always reappears on my Pinterest feed and then I cannot get it out of my head for days. I just LOVE those chairs and that lamp... and the floor! Oh, and obviously the white walls! It's my dream really..

I think the part that draws me to this picture is how homey it feels. So warm and comfortable and inviting. Don't you just want to hang out in those chairs, grab a book off the shelf and never leave? No? Am I the only one?! Well in any case, below is what I imagine the rest of the room to look like too! Happy Monday! Enjoy!

penny tile...

Penny tile seems to be my new favorite bathroom tile. It's so simple. It can give a bathroom so many different feels depending on the color that you choose. It would be so fun in a kids bath, or it can be so glamorous in a marble finish! The color choices are truly endless! I love the old school yellow color that I chose for this Aztec bath. (Ok, I only say that because of the shower curtain... what else would you call this bath?!)

Besides the penny tile, that sconce? TO DIE FOR!

my inspiration...

I have a confession to make. I have never been a huge fan of the "one accent wall". Remember back in the day when you would just pick that one wall and paint it a totally different color and that would be the extent of your "decorating" for that room?! No? Only me? Well, I will call you a liar then and move on. I think that the accent wall has come a long way, and now I am a big fan... when done right!

When I purchase a "new to me" home, in the very near future I hope, the first thing I will do AFTER painting all the walls white, is paint one wall black. I don't know where yet, and it might be a teeny tiny little area, but I want it. I love the impact it makes!

here

Ok, books covering a wall head to toe?! Yes please! How boring this grey wall would be without all those shelves and books. What a great way to bring out your personality in your home!

here

Plank wall? This will be the second accent wall that I have in my home. It makes it feel so warm and cozy. Right now I am thinking... combine the book wall and the plank wall and make a little reading nook with lots of pillows and fuzzy blankets.. can you picture it?! I'm already drifting off to la la land just thinking about it!

what's not to love?!

Now some of you may not know.. but I have my arts degree with a major in English. So needless to say, I LOVE words. Random? Maybe... but I want to incorporate that love into my wedding in random ways and prints like these are exactly what I am looking for!

I have so many ideas swirling in my head for this wedding! I just pray that I can execute them all! I mean seriously, how perfect would these prints be hanging as a backdrop for the head table.. or as a photobooth backdrop!? The best part is that they can totally be used around the house after too! Oh I cannot wait!
